WHO Global Elimination Strategy Launch
On Tuesday November 17, the World Health Organisation made a historic announcement: for the first time ever, the world has committed to eliminate a cancer. With this announcement, WHO launched a global strategy to eliminate cervical cancer, which has just been adopted by 194 countries during the World Health Assembly. Ā It is a testament to the enthusiasm for this goal that, even in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, so many countries affirmed their support to pass the resolution.
The launch was a day of action around the world.Ā Events to promote cancer prevention and treatment were organised by cancer survivors, ministries, NGOs, and partners in many countries.
