National Cervical Cancer Awareness Week

November 18-24, 2013

Australian Cervical Cancer Foundation (ACCF) is thrilled to be celebrating National Cervical Cancer Awareness Week from November 18-24, 2013. During this week, ACCF will launch the ‘Be Bright’ campaign- a campaign to celebrate cervical cancer prevention –Be Bright, Be Healthy!

We are asking women during this week to sign up to Be Bright- Get the Pap Text! The first national SMS initiative that reminds you when your next Pap test is due so you don’t ever forget.
The ACCF Be Bright team of staff, survivors and volunteers will also be in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney at the following locations where we will be encouraging women to sign up to Get the Pap Text! as well as have the opportunity to buy a gorgeous Be Bright orange gerbera or an orange ribbon to show your support.

We would love to see you there:

Monday Nov 18 – St Paul’s Court, Federation Square, Melbourne
Wednesday Nov 20 – Queen St Mall, Brisbane (out the front of David Jones entry)
Friday Nov 22 – Martin Place, Sydney (Elizabeth St entry)

The week is also about raising much needed funds for ACCF’s life-saving work – so if you would like to hold your very own Be Bright Event to raise funds then please email us at info@accf.org.au or call 1300 727 630 so we can give you all you need to create a fabulous Be Bright event.

We hope you enjoy Be Bright Week and take the time during that week to book that overdue Pap test or encourage the women you love to do the same! Cervical cancer is highly treatable if detected early and regular Pap tests are your best form of prevention.

Campaign Ambassadors:

ACCF would like to thank our partners and sponsors for Be Bright:

Major Sponsor

Hologic is a company that has developed a type of Pap test called ThinPrep. ThinPrep uses technology known as liquid-based cytology which involves a sample of cervical cells being rinsed in a vial filled with liquid preservative solution that is then sent to the laboratory for processing. Ask your GP about ThinPrep next time you go for your Pap test!
