National Cervical Cancer Awareness Week
November 18-24, 2013
Australian Cervical Cancer Foundation (ACCF) was thrilled to celebrate National Cervical Cancer Awareness Week from November 18-24 2013. During this week, ACCF launched the ‘Be Bright’ campaign – a campaign to celebrate cervical cancer prevention – Be Bright, Be Healthy!
We asked women during this week to sign up to Get the Pap Text, the first national SMS initiative that reminds you when your next Pap test is due, so you don’t ever forget.
The ACCF Be Bright team of staff, survivors and volunteers manned stalls in Queen St (Brisbane), Martin Place (Sydney) and Federation Square (Melbourne) to spread awareness and encourage women to sign up for their free Pap test reminders and look after their health. We handed out postcards, sold gerberas and ribbons, and celebrated National Cervical Cancer Awareness Week in bright orange style.
Buy an Orange Ribbon
Though Be Bright week is over for this year, you can still show your support by purchasing an orange ribbon!
ACCF would like to thank our lovely celebrity ambassadors who did such an excellent job of spreading the Be Bright message:
Layla Subritzky – of Celebrity Apprentice and Big Brother fame
Kathy Sheeran – the happiest shopper we know! Online shopping celebrity, guru, blogger and cervical cancer survivor
Kaplan Sisters – Gemma, Dena and Ariel – Australian TV and Theatre Actresses – Neighbours, Saddle Club, Dance Academy, MoonShadow
Sarah Maree Cameron – Successful radio host and cervical cancer survivor
ACCF would also like to thank our partners and sponsors for Be Bright:
Hologic is a company that has developed a type of Pap test called ThinPrep. ThinPrep uses technology known as liquid-based cytology which involves a sample of cervical cells being rinsed in a vial filled with liquid preservative solution that is then sent to the laboratory for processing. Ask your GP about ThinPrep next time you go for your Pap test!
ACCF is thrilled to be part of the Priceline Sisterhood and thanks Priceline for all of its efforts and support during the month of November to increase awareness around our cause through its fabulous customer base and stores around Australia.
The Red Agency have been passionate about working with ACCF to bring to life this Awareness Week including our live sites, media, social media and sponsorship.
Hydrate, tone and brighten the skin with Taut! Featuring a unique blend of hydrolysed collagen, squalene, hyaluronic acid and antioxidants, Taut is the ultimate pick me up! The wonderful team at Taut donated $10 from the sale of each mask in November to ACCF.
The fabulous team at My Net Sale donated a wonderful Be Bright orange Givenchy handbag that we gave away during our awareness week (pictured above with Kathy Sheeran).
Daniel Churchill, of Masterchef 2013, has just launched his new cookbook “The Healthy Cook” and $10 from the sale of each of his books during our Awareness Week will go to ACCF – Thanks Dan!
